Jo Ann retired as a Family Court Judge in Lexington, Kentucky, and returned to her hometown of Knoxville in 2013. Jo Ann has over 35 years of experience in the practice of family law and is committed to using that experience to serve her clients. Her practice focuses on representing individuals involved in divorce, child custody, child visitation, and child support litigation. Jo Ann also assists clients involved in relocation issues, and clients in need of prenuptial or postnuptial agreements. Jo Ann is trained in the collaborative method of resolving divorce cases and is a founding member of the East Tennessee Collaborative Alliance. She enjoys using her passion for family law to respectfully resolve her client’s family issues.

 

Jo Ann is a Rule 31 certified Family Mediator. Jo Ann’s years on the bench deciding family law cases, combined with her extensive experience representing clients in family law cases, make her an effective Family Mediator.

 

In addition to her private practice at Knoxville Family Law, Jo Ann is also an adjunct professor at the University of Tennessee College of Law Domestic Violence Clinic, where she teaches and supervises student lawyers who provide pro bono representation to domestic violence victims in Order of Protection court.

 

Jo Ann is dedicated to serving her profession. She has been the co-chair of the Family Law Section of the Knoxville Bar Association for the last two years. While on the bench, Jo Ann was the Chair of the Fayette Family Court and was involved in numerous projects to improve the court and the community, such as the Model Court project for families and children in dependency, neglect and abuse court, truancy court, the Civil Rules Initiative of the Kentucky Supreme Court, the Mayor’s Commission on Youth Development and Public Safety and the Domestic Violence Fatality Review Team. Jo Ann also served as chair of the family law section of the Kentucky Bar Association and the Fayette County Bar Association and as a member of the Kentucky Legislature’s Special Task Force on Parenting and Child Custody.

Blair Kennedy

Blair is a Knoxville native and enjoys serving her community. Her primary practice areas are in adoption, divorce, custody, child welfare, and estate planning. Blair is an experienced litigator and serves as a frequent lecturer on adoption law, custody, and divorce litigation. She is active in providing pro bono services through East Tennessee Legal Aid, serves as a Mentor in the Knoxville Bar Association, and is a volunteer for Girl Talk, Inc.

 

While in law school, Blair served as Secretary of the Phi Delta Phi Honors Fraternity, was active in the Women’s Bar Association, and worked for both the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office and the Hinds County Chancery Court. She focused her studies on family and juvenile law and served as a student attorney admitted to limited practice at the Rankin County Youth Court and as a Guardian ad Litem in Hinds County Chancery Court. While completing her undergraduate degree, Blair worked full-time as a Legislative Assistant for the Tennessee General Assembly. There she worked directly for the Minority Leader with whom she organized and ran the State Government Sub-Committee. It was there she found her passion for the law and had the unique experience of seeing first-hand how laws are created in Tennessee.

Elizabeth is an experienced litigator focusing on family law. She is skilled at compassionately fighting for her clients and understands that matters involving family law can be emotionally challenging. Elizabeth has over 20 years of experience. She began her practice in 2004 after graduating from Cumberland School of Law in Birmingham, Alabama. Elizabeth practiced family law and criminal defense in Birmingham until 2011 when she moved to Knoxville to begin her family law practice. In 2020, Elizabeth was employed with the Department of Children’s Services and focused on termination of parental rights and dependency and neglect cases. Elizabeth returned to private practice to continue her desire to help families resolve their issues.

Elizabeth is adept at handling the complex nature of family law cases while at the same time understanding a client’s need to resolve matters. Her life experiences honed her divorce and child custody skills and provided her with a personalized understanding of the problems that families face.

Elizabeth lives in Knoxville with her two children. She also serves as President of the Julia Barbara Foundation, a nonprofit formed to help children with cancer, in honor of her daughter, Julia, who passed away from a brain tumor.

Elizabeth dedicates herself to obtaining a favorable resolution of legal issues while at the same time helping clients overcome the emotional hurdles of family law litigation. Elizabeth focuses her practice on custody, divorce, child support, adoption, child welfare, and post-divorce issues.
